ESN Iceland is the Icelandic branch of the Erasmus Student Network: a non-profit, volunteer-run student organisation that makes sure every international and exchange student in Iceland feels welcome, connected and at home.
Students Helping Students
We are students ourselves. Many of us came to Iceland from abroad, and we know how big a step it is to move to a new country, a new university and a new language. Our volunteers organise activities that help international students meet people, discover Iceland and get the most out of their time here.
Social & cultural events
Potluck dinners, poetry nights, themed parties and evenings where cultures from all over the world meet, many of them at Gamli Garður, University of Iceland.
Trips across Iceland
Pool trips around Reykjavík and student trips to the South Coast, the Golden Circle and Snæfellsnes with our partner TimeTravels.
Welcome & orientation
We meet new students during university orientation and help them find their feet, and their friends, in their first weeks in Iceland.
Skills & representation
Volunteers gain real experience in events, communications and leadership, and represent Iceland's international students within ESN.
Part of a Europe-wide network
The Erasmus Student Network was founded in 1989 and is one of the largest student associations in Europe, with more than 500 local associations in over 40 countries. Through ESN Iceland, students here are connected to that whole network: its events, its opportunities and its community.
